Tacos Veloz is a cash-only taco window on Roosevelt Avenue, tucked under the elevated 7 near Junction Boulevard. No dining room to speak of — a window, a steel counter, a few stools, and a kitchen that’s been feeding this stretch of Corona since at least 2014.

The name

Veloz means fast

The name says exactly what the place is. You call your order over the counter, hand over cash, and the taco’s in front of you in about the time it takes a 7 train to pull in and leave again. No app, no wait list, no table — just a fast, honest street taco.

A poblano kitchen on Roosevelt

This part of Roosevelt Ave is one of the city’s great Mexican corridors, and Tacos Veloz cooks it straight: carnitas and al pastor and lengua at the window, and behind it a full Puebla kitchen — cemitas, huitlacoche and squash-blossom quesadillas, huaraches, mole poblano. The green salsa gets its own fan mail.

Open when nothing else is

Tacos Veloz keeps late hours — most nights till around 2, and till roughly 3 to start the week. It’s the corner for late-shift workers, night owls, and everyone spilling out of the live music at Terraza 7 down the block. It doesn’t look fancy. That was never the point.
